Re: Refurbished Mobility Equipment

BFW is a registered charity which recycles, services and repairs mobility scooters. We train young disabled and disadvantaged people who are disengaged from the learning process e.g.  wheelchair users or people with learning difficulties; supervised by a specialist staff. Trainees use donated electric mobility equipment to learn both mechanical and electrical fault finding within a working environment, gaining life skills.

  • The WEEE Directive places constraints for the disposal of used equipment on your company.

How BFW can help you!

  • BFW  has applied to the Environmental Agency for an exemption under Paragraph 40 of the WEEE regulations that will enable us to recycle equipment to a standard that is safe and that meets: “The technical requirements specified in Annex III of the WEEE Directive”
  • BFW is looking to form partnerships with mobility equipment suppliers who would donate suitable electrically operated mobility scooters, chairs etc. therefore making them exempt from the WEEE Directive. BFW will restore the equipment back to its original purpose for reuse.
  • After BFW has recycled your donated equipment it will be sold to deserving disabled people from with in the six deprived wards of Skelmersdale. These disabled people can be given a chance to retain/regain their mobility, helping them to function in society.
  • What about you loosing sales?  Our partnership would in no way adversely affect the sale of new equipment, as people in these wards are among the top 5% of deprived people in England, who have little or no money.
  • What do you get from it? You save time and reduce your operational disposal costs by not sending the equipment through a to a registered compliance scheme.
  • You gain the satisfaction of helping young disabled / disadvantaged to have a better chance in life. Putting the recycled equipment back into use, will greatly enhance the lives of the equipment users.

BFW is a stand alone charity; all monies made from the sale of the equipment will go back into our charity to help more disabled to use our service in the future.
